Missouri Geological Information for MRBCA
Missouri's Environmental Geology Atlas (MEGA) is an excellent source of geological information, developed by MDNR's
Geological Survey and Resource Assessment Division (GSRAD), with Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund (PSTIF) Funding. The Mega CD-ROM is a collection of interactive computer maps that allow the user access to multiple statewide Geographic Information System (GIS) data layers.

An updated, improved version of the Missouri Environmental Geology Atlas (MEGA) is now available from the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geology and Land Survey. The GIS-based product which was first released in 2003 now includes a water table map showing uppermost groundwater elevations which will allow users to estimate groundwater flow direction. Other new data layers include drill areas depicting requirements for well construction area boundaries and a mine and mineral occurrence layer. A significant addition to the existing well log layer includes a simplified well log that lists various materials encountered during drilling. Missouri House and Senate district boundaries are also part of the collection. The following data layers have been significantly improved: sinkhole locations, sinkhole areas, losing and gaining streams, spring locations, dye traces, and certified wells. This CD-ROM also provides public domain information such as streams, lakes, roads, urban areas, and county boundaries. vailable information includes: bedrock geology, well and spring locations, dye trace data, public land survey system information, geologic structures, sinkhole locations, alluvial floodplains, as well as public domain information such as streams, lakes, major roads, urban areas and county boundaries.

The CD-ROM can be purchased through the Geological Survey and Resource Assessment Division's publications desk for $45.00 per copy, plus shipping and handling charges (Missouri residents, please include 7.6% sales tax and call for shipping rates). An easy-to-follow manual is included, along with free software to enable viewing.

You may order the MEGA CD-ROM via the Internet at www.dnr.mo.gov/geology/adm/publications/ MapsOrder.htm, or you may call: toll-free to 800-361-4827 or direct to 573-368-2125, to place an order or for more information.
